Harley Herringbone Crochet Head Warmer – FREE PATTERN

Stay stylish and warm in this modern herringbone stitch crochet twist head warmer! This project creates a classic looking Fall and Winter staple for those cold weather months. You can make a baby, toddler, kids, or adult size ear warmer with these instructions. The pattern is beginner friendly thanks to the included video tutorial and step by step pictures. The ear warmer works up quickly thanks to Lion Brand’s Wool Ease medium weight yarn . . this would be a great piece to sell in your shop or give as a last minute gift!  Scroll down for the free instructions or purchase an inexpensive downloadable PDF from Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE!

I’ve been in love with the crochet herringbone stitch for a while now.  It started with my Neo Crochet Bag pattern and then moved on to my Heath Crochet Hat pattern.  The stitch is easy to work and creates a dense and beautifully textured design.  In the video tutorial for this pattern I walk you through the stitch slowly so that it’s hopefully very easy for you to learn and copy.  I hope you enjoy using this new stitch as much as I do! 🙂

I love head warmers (or ear warmers or head bands as some call them).  They’re a necessity here on Canada’s East Coast where temperatures drop significantly in the Winter months.  I love that head warmers allow for up-dos like top knots and ponytails but look cut with hair that’s down too.  A practical and stylish way to keep warm during the colder months.  Perfect!

You can use any medium weight yarn for this pattern but I loved Lion Brand’s Wool Ease because of the stitch definition.  You can really see each slanted stitch clearly and the herringbone designs pops.  Not to mention the warmth and practicality the wool-blend provides.  And it’s an affordable project since you only need one skein to complete even the largest size.
