Remington Diamond Cable Crochet Hat – FREE PATTERN

Remington Cable Crochet Hat

With a classic ribbed brim leading into a beautiful honeycomb design and topped with a faux-fur or yarn pom pom this toque pattern is a new classic to add to your collection.  The Remington Diamond Cable Crochet Hat pattern is an easy one to follow, perfect for intermediate crocheters, but creates an intricate and complex looking design.  The toque can be made into 4 different sizes using this pattern, Baby, Toddler, Child, or Adult, so you can crochet a hat for the whole family.  Using Red Heart® Soft®, a medium weight yarn,  created a cozy and soft beanie before for those cold Fall & Winter months.  Scroll down for the free instructions or purchase an inexpensive downloadable PDF from Etsy HERE or Ravelry HERE!

This warm cable toque is worked from the bottom up.  The knit-look ribbed brim is worked in rows using simple stitches and the delicate looking diamond design is worked in the round using a combination of regular and ‘front post’ stitches.

I love crocheted cables but know it’s not always an easy look to accomplish.  In an effort to make this pattern as easy to understand as possible it includes step by step pictures AND a video tutorial (YouTube link below).

Using Red Heart® Soft® was a lot of fun.  It’s soft, so very wearable, and the texture adds to the hats’ delicate appearance.  Thick enough to make the beanie functionally warm but not so thick that the toque feels bulky (even with the cables). I created the hat in two colours, one in ‘Light Grey Heather’ and one in ‘White’.  Let me know in the comments which colour combination is your favourite!

For the pom poms I used Rainbow Designs Faux Fur Pom Poms found on Etsy HERE.  The owner is an old friend and fellow East Coast Canadian.  Her work is beautiful and she also offers finished pieces and patterns in her shop as well.

Now let’s dive into the design . .
